Everything You Need to Know About Cigar Torches

Cigar Torches vs. Traditional Lighters

The traditional lighters that have been around for forever produce a small flame that is hot enough to light smaller objects, such as cigarettes. Cigars, however, require much more heat to be lit. These are much easier lit with a torch lighter, which produces a jet-like flame that produces much more heat than a normal lighter.

Cigar Lighter Fuel

If you’re using a cigar torch, these generally use butane as fuel. When purchasing butane, make sure the nozzle on the can will properly fit into the hole found at the bottom of your cigar lighter.

Cigar Lighter Safety

Lighters obviously have their dangerous traits, but torch lighters are a bit more dangerous. After filling up your torch with butane, make sure that no butane fumes are still in the area. Fumes will spray out as you fill up the torch, and if you immediately activate the lighter, those fumes can catch on fire.

Also, test the flame height before lighting your cigar. The size of the flame on your cigar lighter can be adjusted, so make sure the flame output on your cigar lighter isn’t larger than anticipated, as this can lead to injury.

Adjusting Fuel Output

With cigar torch lighters, you may notice the small black circle around where you insert the fuel nozzle, there’s a notch in the circle. If you get a small flat tool, you can tighten or loosen it to adjust how large your torch flame is. Be careful not to loosen it too much, as you can get a dangerously large flame.
